Pulmonary arterial hypertension is a rare disease that affects young adults and is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Its pathophysiology is complex and characterized by pulmonary arterial remodeling. In recent years, there has been great progress in its understanding and subsequent development of specific treatment, based on sequential risk assessments, which has changed the natural history of the disease. However, survival rates for individuals with this diagnosis are still low.
