Abstract

With the advent of video-assisted (VATS) and robotic (RATS) surgical techniques, locating pulmonary nodules using tactile sense is not adequate. Therefore, techniques for marking the pulmonary nodule are essential in this surgical scenario, especially when they involve anatomical segmentectomies and wedge resections. Various techniques performed by interventional radiology, guided by tomography, can assist the surgeon in locating the nodule, including spiral markers, springs, guide wires, fishhooks, substances infiltrated directly into the lesion such as methylene blue and charcoal, and contrast media associated with fluoroscopy and fluorescence with the latest and growing use of indocyanine green. In this article, we illustrate 03 clinical cases in which we used such techniques with favorable clinical and surgical outcomes.
